CeBIT and embedded world 2010
Thursday, 04.March 2010
The last 2 days were long, the nights short and a lot of informations:With my work colleagues I was at the CeBIT and at the embedded world (an industry conference on embedded systems in automobiles, information technology, telecommunications, industrial and consumer electronics, military technology and many more): Of particular interest at the CeBIT, there is a project from the fraunhofer institute on the topic of "smart kitchen":
A monitor on the wall showin recipes, oven controls,... is controlled by hand gestures, without touching the screen. This function is achieved through infrared cameras that are mounted in a exhaust-hood-like construction above the display - *want-to-have*!
Another project by tobii is in particular interesting to me as a GUI developer: A monitor with eye-tracking which can be navigated trhough eye movements (scrolling texts, turning pages, selecting buttons ,...) as well as showing motion paths and highlighting so-called hot spots. Thus, one can check what the user sees first and most and if desired eye catcher function effectively.
