hej meets servus

As always, it takes some time until I talk about recent events, but now longer and more detailed:With Phil celebrating 3 months of his BA degree studies in Sweden (uh working) and me never been to Sweden, there was a unique opportunity to undertake the great journey with the exquisite Airline Ryanair... We arrived in Stockholm at night - so late that no subways drove anymore, let alone ticket offices were open! But a nice bus driver, who as an accurate Swedish bus driver could not sell tickets, gave us a ride for free - three cheers for the hospitable, Swedish bus drivers!
After a pleasurably sleep we visited the Vasa Museum a museum on the history of the Swedish ship "Vasa", that sank in 1628 during its maiden voyage at the port. Beautiful preserved old ship from a time when one did not enter statics and water displacement into his mobile!
In the evening we immediately got in touch with party life - we were on the guest list for the ambassadeur, he club where the new Swedish pop starlet Velvet celebrated her album release party just that evening! Astonishing club - everything in white - from floor to decorations! Cool DJ, belting live act!
Saturday and Sunday were more of a city tour - ranging from Södermalm, the changing of the guard at the palace to the port. In the evening there was a lot of delicious all-you-can-eat sushi, but the sushi was a bit disappointing, however the rest was all right - at least we all got enough...
With Steph & Phil going back to work on Monday, Anja and I visited the technology museum. Unfortunately, almost everything was explained in Swedish, so we weren't really able to fully trace the history of the metallurgical industry... There was also cool stuff like Mind Ball (a game in which 2 players sitting face-to-face, and controling a bullet via their brain waves. The aim of the game here is to think less than the opposite - sounds easy, but it is damn hard, because you lose when the ball arrives at one. So one has to think the less the more closely the ball gets). There are plenty of other active elements in the museum: e.g. one has to demonstrate his responsiveness, flexibility, strength and much more and can compete with others.
Unfortunately, the holiday was over again much too soon - and so on Tuesday afternoon we went starting all over again towards the airport ... The return trip went well as planned, if one foresees the involuntary, very cold stopovers at German railway stations at night.
But enough words - let the pictures speak: More pictures and stories on Phil's Sweden Blog and Steph's 'hej meets servus' page. Well worth a visit, e.g. at Steph's there's the link to the video of Velvets performance at Ambassadeur! ;-)
